Covid 19 is a disease caused by a virus called Corona Virus. This disease was initially discovered in Wuhan, China in 2019 and spread all over the world hence cause death to hundreds thousand of people worldwide. The virus enters human body through eyes, mouth, ears, nose in different ways to a person when doing his/her activities whereby major source of transmission is via hands. WHO has ranked this disease as a Pandemic disease and warn nations all over the world to take measures to avoid and eradicate this disease by proper cleanness of our hands and body every time when we touch things since the virus can survive on environment for 24 hrs.
Africa specifically Tanzania is among affected countries with COVID19, number of cases have been reported and some people died due to this disease. On 17th March, 2020, Government of Tanzania took measures of closing all schools, Colleges and Universities so as to minimize the spread of the disease. On 1st June 2020, Universities were opened including SAUT Arusha centre and we recommence with the second semester for academic year 2019/2020. University administration arranged two days orientation to both staff and students on how they can protect themselves and others with COVI19 plus provision of 50ml free bottle of sanitizer to each. We thank almighty God for his protection, no case has been reported for either student or staff.
